Thai Muang Beach Phang-Nga, Thailand

Thai Muang is about 30 km north of the Sarasin Bridge that crosses to Phuket and 25 km south of Khao Lak. A few km through town, off Route 4, one can find a beautiful combination of beach and golf.

Thai Muang park is something like 20 km of totally protected white sand beach, which stretches and effectively runs parallel to Route 4. A 1.5km side road leads down to the beach. The water is clear and good for swimming.

It is a great beach on which to walk and watch the Andaman and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area and part of that beach runs alongside a Dye Design golf course. The Thai Muang Beach Golf & Marina is in excellent condition, picturesque and looks to be a fair challenge. The clubhouse has full services with locker rooms, club rental and restaurant.

Also known as Turtle Beach, it is especially famous as during the months from November to February., This is one of the only Turtle nesting sites for Leatherback turtles on the West coast of Thailand (the other being Golden Buddha Beach). It's extraordinary to see this much protected land, and yet so very rarely visited.
They also feature a a turtle conservation center of dubious credibility with a hatchery and usually a couple of giant old ladies in their pools.

A tradition has developed, called 'turtle walking', which encompasses both the unobtrusive observing of the egg laying turtles and, after the hatching period, the releasing of young turtles into the sea (turtle releasing festival).
