One of the most beautiful and most popular beaches on Koh Samet, Hat
Sai Kaew is 1 kilometer long and 25 – 30 meters wide. The name speaks
for itself, Hat Sai Kaew, which literally means Crystal Sand Beach, is a
nice beach filled with activities. From dusk to dawn, visitors can
enjoy sunbathing, swimming, jet skiing, windsurfing, riding on a banana
boat or even partying at night.
Koh Samet retains a level of comfort and
tranquility that is missing from most other Thai islands with reasonable
facilities. A lot of this is due to its National Park status
restraining development, including roads in the interior. The cheapest
bungalows are generally the furthest from the two main landing points
(Na Dan Pier and Wong Duan Bay), so backpackers should be prepared to
walk a while. Previously we got the impression that Wong Duan would be
the best beach/hotel area on the island, but were disappointed by the
narrow strip of sand, smelly boats clustering in the small bay and
platoons of visitors landing on barges as if every day was D-day.

Ao Vong Duan Beach, Koh Samet Island, Thailand
The large sweeping and well protected Ao Vong Duan is one of the most popular beaches to stay at on Koh Samet.
Home to some fine mid-range accommodation, the beach is a hotspot of boat traffic, with a near continual stream of ferries, speedboats, jetskis and banana boats plying their trade. So an isolated and quiet beach to relax on this is not. The upscale party atmosphere isn't as frantic as it once was, and this is no longer the party-til-you-puke centre of the island.
If you do choose to stay on Ao Vong Duan you may find yourself spending much of your days on other beaches to dodge the noise and hustle and bustle, while returning to Ao Vong Duan for its fine selection of eateries and drinking holes in the evening. Vong Duan is also the traveller's services centre for the adjacent beaches, offering internet and money exchange services.
Ferry boats arrive several times daily. There is a 10B per person fee for the tender service to/from the shore.

Ao Prao Beach, Koh Samet Island, Thailand
Ao Prao is one of the quietest beaches of Koh Samet. Located quite
far away from the lively nightlife of Koh Samet; Ao Prao is preferred by
travelers who quietly enjoy the deep blue sea and white sand in the
sunshine. Ao Prao has a long white sandy beach which is ideal for
swimming.
A scenic bay with a sweeping shallow beach, Ao Prao was once home to a few budget guesthouses but they're all gone now leaving just three mid to top-end resorts making Ao Prao among the most luxurious option on Koh Samet.
Despite the luxury resorts, Ao Prao remains a great beach to visit on a daytrip or in the late afternoon and evening to watch the spectacular sunset and follow it up with a splash-out meal.
There are a couple of restaurants on the beach that non-guests are welcome to eat at, but if you try to jump in one of the pools, expect to be chased away.
Ao Prao is a very popular choice amongst hi-so and VIP Thais - don't be surprised at the sudden influxes of dozen of vip-keepers dossing around while their self-important employers sip overpriced wine in Le Vimarn.

Koh Samet Island, Rayong, Thailand
Koh Samet Sundhorn Phu, Thailand's Shakespeare, described Koh Kaew
Pitsadan (the magical crystal island), which is believed to be the
present Koh Samet, in his famous Thai literature Phra Aphaimanee as a
beautiful island that shelters his main character from a lovelorn giant -
she is broken-hearted and dies on the crystal sandy beach of the
island. Even though you won't see her remains anywhere on Koh Samet,
you're sure to see its crystal white sandy beaches, especially on the
Had Sai Kaew or Sai Kaew Beach.
Koh Samet was named after the Samet Tree or the cajuput tree that grows everywhere on the island. It was declared Khao Lam Ya Samet Archipelago Maritime National Park in 1981. The park encompasses Had Mae Rumpueng-a beach on the coast of Rayong, Lam Ya Mountain and the Samet Archipelago that consists of Koh Samet, Koh Chan, Koh San Chalam, Koh Hin Khao, Koh Kang Kao, Koh Kudee, Koh Kruoy and Koh Plateen. An ecological tour can be conducted through three itineraries on Koh Samet, Koh Kudee and Lam Ya Mountain.
To reach the island, tourists must take a local fishing boat, from Ban Phea in Muang District of Rayong Province for about 30mins. Boats run back and forth around the clock with the minimum of seven passengers. There are direct routes to some beaches including Had Sai Kaew and Ao Wong Duan, from which one can walk to other beaches through a relatively primitive inland road network. Most of the beaches are located on the northern and eastern sides of this T-shaped island whereas only a few, that is, Ao Prao, Ao Kham and Ao Kiu Na Nai lie on the west. It is more convenient to reach Ao Prao by a direct ferry from Ban Phea.

Phuket and 25 km south of Khao Lak. A few km through town, off Route 4,
one can find a beautiful combination of beach and golf.
Thai Muang park is something like 20 km of totally protected white sand beach, which stretches and effectively runs parallel to Route 4. A 1.5km side road leads down to the beach. The water is clear and good for swimming.
It is a great beach on which to walk and watch the Andaman and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area and part of that beach runs alongside a Dye Design golf course. Also known as Turtle Beach, it is especially famous as during the months from November to February., This is one of the only Turtle nesting sites for Leatherback turtles on the West coast of Thailand (the other being Golden Buddha Beach). It's extraordinary to see this much protected land, and yet so very rarely visited.
They also feature a a turtle conservation center of dubious credibility with a hatchery and usually a couple of giant old ladies in their pools.
A tradition has developed, called 'turtle walking', which encompasses both the unobtrusive observing of the egg laying turtles and, after the hatching period, the releasing of young turtles into the sea (turtle releasing festival).

But there are many lesser-known, yet very spectacular diving areas along Thailand's stretching coastline of the Andaman Sea. Koh Similan Island Phang-Nga, Thailand
Koh Similan Island is by far the most beautiful group of dive sites
in Thailand and one of the best areas for diving in the entire world.
Many people comment that the most fantastic thing about the Similan
Islands is that we have two radically different types of environments
all rolled together into one destination. Nowhere else in the world will
a diver find such diverse topography in such a small area.
The Similan Islands, located about one hundred kilometers northwest of Phuket, are composed of nine granite islands covered in tropical jungle, washed by a clear blue tropical ocean and blessed with some of the world's finest beaches. Similan comes from Malay fisherman who named it "The Nine Islands". Currently there is limited accommodation available on the island, but hopefully soon this will be stopped as the island doesn't have the resources to support land-based tourism. There are no resorts on any of the islands and hopefully it will stay this way.
By drawing an imaginary line from north to south, divide the area into our two separate types of environments. The East Coast with its powdery beaches features hard coral gardens which slope dramatically from the surface down to approximately 30-40 meters, where sand takes over as the water depth increases. On this side, the most popular activity is drift diving along healthy coral gardens while watching the reef inhabitants go about their business. In several sites, large coral bommies rise from the bottom and are covered with soft corals, sea fans, and an enormous amount of critters and unusual fish. Here the diving is easy and navigation simple, allowing each buddy pair to explore at his or her own pace.

Koh Yao Island Phang-Nga, Thailand
Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are a pair of large islands in the middle
of Phang Nga Bay, equidistant to Phuket and the Krabi mainland. While
the pace of development is accelerating on Koh Yao Noi in particular,
the islands remain a quiet refuge that feels far removed from the crowds
of Phuket.
In 2002, Koh Yao Noi gained worldwide attention after receiving the World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship from Conservation International and National Geographic Traveler magazine for the eco-friendly homestay programs offered by its local residents.
Other activities available on the island include agricultural demonstrations (rubber and fishing), kayaking, hiking, snorkelling and swimming.
Note that the islanders are keen to preserve their traditional ways, so it's important to respect the local culture by dressing modestly and refraining from drinking alcohol outside of the restaurants/resorts catering to visitors.

Koh Kho Khao Island lies off the coast of Takuapa to the North of
Khaolak. Its western coast has endless beaches lined by Casuarina trees

November and February. Those, interested in this fascinating event will

Phang-Nga, Thailand
Though
the town is quiet, it is surrounded by natural parkland, featuring
caves, uninhabited islands, coral reefs and archaeological sites. While unremarkable in itself, Phang-Nga town is
surrounded by hauntingly beautiful national parks with striking rock
formations, limestone cliffs and uninhabited islands.
Colorful Wildlife
Ao Phang-Nga National Park, with its famous "James Bond Island" from the 007 film The Man with the Golden Gun, has hundreds of rocks and cliffs with picturesque coves and mangrove forests. The waters of Ao Phang-Nga support several species of sea snake, and giant two-banded monitors (some longer than two meters) live in the mangroves. The islands host various reptiles and mammals, including gibbons, macaques and langurs.
Prehistoric Art
This wildlife has long interested humans, evident from the wealth of local prehistoric rock art, especially at Khao Khian, Than Nak and Koh Panyi. The latter hosts a 200-year-old Moslem fishing community whose cliff-bottom houses are all on stilts: visit around mid afternoon, after the tourist boats have gone.
Cave Walks
Suan Somdet Phra Srinakarin Park also contains limestone cliffs, and some have caverns and tunnels with walkways from which to view the pools below. For cave enthusiasts, Wat Tham Suwankhuha has a 15-meter reclining Buddha in a grand, ornately decorated cavern; a smaller one contains numerous assorted effigies.
Diving & Hiking
For good beaches, try the west coast of Phang-Nga Province or cruise out to Muu Koh Similan (The Similan Islands), about 60 km from Hat Khao Lak and Thap Lamu. The beaches here are nice for swimming and snorkeling, while diving offers excellent visibility. Koh Similan, the largest island, has hiking trails and good sea views from its highest point. The island's rich wildlife includes porcupines, lemurs, pythons, dolphins, turtles and up to 32 bird species.

Koh Lan Island, Pattaya, Thailand
Koh Lan (Lan Island) Only 7 kilometres off Pattaya shore, Koh Lan is
the most visited island in Chonburi Province. It’s conveniently
accessible with regular ferry and speedboat leaving Balihai pier in
south Pattaya as early as 8 o’clock. It’s the island of fun. Each beach
offers a variety of activities from water sports to sunbathing.
Beaches in Koh Lan
Haad Ta Waen is the longest and most popular beach of Koh Lan. Located in the northwest of the island, this 750-metre-long beach has clear waters and white fine sand. The beach, which is popular among Asian tourists, is lined with colourful beach chairs, shops and restaurants. Located in the west of Koh Lan is Haad Tian. This scenic beach in the cove stretches 500 metres long and features some coral reefs. It is as popular as Haad Ta Waen with loads of sport activities and restaurants on the offer. Another beach near Haad Ta Waen is Haad Sungwal. It is a small beach, only around 150 metres long. Without any shops or restaurant in the area, the beach is quieter than Haad Ta Waen and good for sunbathing. For those who prefer basking in the sun in peace, Haad Samae and Haad Ta Yai may serve your purpose. The first beach, which is only 10 minute walk from Haad Tian, is relatively quiet with shops and restaurants dotting the area. Nestling on the northern tip of the island, the latter beach has fewer beach goers and only one beachside restaurant.

Naklua Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
Naklua Beach is the most northerly of the bays and by far the
quietest. Naklua is much smaller than its neighbours and it does not
suffer from the mass development Pattaya Beach has experienced. Like
Jomtien it is more family friendly. The Pattaya municipality spent 1.8
million Baht on cleaning up the waters around Pattaya, and in Naklua it
is now possible to see fish in the water. This makes bathing in the sea a
genuine pleasure.
Naklua is also a centre for windsurfers and windsurfing equipment can be hired from the beach.

Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
Jomtien Beach Situated 3 kilometers southward of the downtown,
Jomtien is a spin-off from Pattaya. This 6 kilometre long beach may bear
some resemblance to Pattaya beach in terms of beach activities.
However, it has an ambience of isolation. Thanks to its distance from
Pattaya.
The beach is suitable for swimming as plenty of water sports activities are available. Accommodations on this beach are relatively cheap and there are enough restaurants to serve diners. Off the street to Jomtien Beach is another beach named Dong Tan. It has a more relaxing atmosphere than its neighbouring beaches due to its no-car parking policy. Indeed, cars are allowed to pass and park on this beach only before 10 am and after 5 pm.
The beach is shady with pine trees and beach umbrellas. Therefore, this is the place where you will see beachgoers joyfully basking in the sun.

South Pattaya Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
South Pattaya is located next to Central Pattaya. The area may not
have an attractive beach like North or Middle Pattaya. People seem to
come here for a different reason.
Looking more energetic at night, it draws many fun-loving tourists who stroll this 500 metre lane looking for a fun time after dark. Numerous shops, restaurants, bars, discotheques, nightclubs line the streets. Thus, it is the place for adults only.

Central Pattaya Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
Central Pattaya: The beach of fun Just a little bit south of North
Pattaya passing the golden mermaid and dolphin statues is Central
Pattaya, the beach of fun. This is the most popular and, certainly,
lively beach in Pattaya. This is the area where shopping malls, boutique
shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops are crammed along a busy
beachside road. There are more beach chairs, umbrellas and tourists in
Central Pattaya than other beaches.
During the day, the area is enthusiastic with beachgoers frolicking on the beach or enjoying several kinds of water sports activities such as jet skiing, banana boat, paragliding and parasailing. At night, the street is illuminated with pubs, bars and restaurants. Middle Pattaya may not be the most favourite place in Pattaya but it is usually the place ones choose not to be missed.

North Pattaya Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
Nostalgic serenity North Pattaya or Pattaya Neau
is the most peaceful beach among the three main beaches in town. Mass
tourism originated on this beach before it spread to north and south
Pattaya. Many hotels that were established three decades ago can still
be seen lining this brown sandy beach, proving its longevity and
popularity.
The beach starts from the Dolphin roundabout in front of Dusit Resort. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent along this shady beach while restaurants, bars and convenient stores are just walking distance.

Bangsaen Beach, Pattaya, Thailand
This is a little piece of paradise hidden away from the tourist
spotlight. Only one and a half hours from Bangkok at that! Bangsaen, or
Ban Bang Saen, has a population of less than 10,000 and is part of
Saensuk Municipality, which in turn belongs to Chonburi Province.
Pattaya is less than an hour away and while it seems to attract vast
numbers of international visitors, Bangsaen is a local haunt.
Bang Saen Beach, 100 km southeast of Bangkok and about 10 km from the provincial capital of Chonburi, is a day trip for residents of Bangkok, and is visited mostly on weekends by Thai tourists looking for a relaxing day on the sand. Eclipsed in recent decades by Pattaya, it was once the favorite getaway for Bangkok's elite. Now it attracts mostly Thai families and teenagers looking for a brief, low budget holiday weekend.
One of the best things about Bangsaen was the large number of local restaurants and bars and the relaxed atmosphere everywhere one goes. Local vendors sell fruit, seafood and snacks, such as squid, mussels and spicy steamed fish cakes, and rent chairs, multicolored umbrellas and other beach paraphernalia. Shower facilities are available. Inexpensive guesthouses, bungalows and a small resort cater to those who choose to stay more than one day.
A marine aquarium and museum on the campus of Srinakharinwirot University, on the road between the highway and the beach, has exhibits on the marine environment and the aquatic species native to the waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Pattaya, Thailand
Pattaya is, however, a surprisingly inoffensive haven for the
love-dispossessed - wrinklies, plug uglies & handicapped mix it with
arabs, military personnel & stressed love refugees who have three
things in common: they have money to spend, they are hot for sleek young
Asians & they have all the fashion sense of a third-degree burn.
Interestingly Thai men mostly don't seem bothered that many of their
prettiest girls/boys are running around with butt-ugly foreigners. The
hired hands too appear relaxed & tolerant & often spend a couple
of weeks travelling around Thailand - especially to proper beach
resorts - with men who treat them like princesses & pay them enough
to support their families for a year. Love & /or marriage are not
uncommon results of these liaisons.
With its murky sea, streets packed with highrise hotels, & touts on every corner, PATTAYA is the epitome of exploitative tourism gone mad. The town swarms with male & female prostitutes, & plane-loads of Western men flock here to enjoy their services in the rash of go-go bars for which "Patpong-on-Sea" is notorious. Yet watersports facilities here are among the best in the country, & it's not a bad place to learn to dive, though the reefs off the Andaman Coast are more spectacular.

Koh Phi Phi Island, Krabi, Thailand
The most popular destination on the Andaman Coast after Phuket. Here
it offers pristine beaches, impressive cliffs, clear water and
fascinating marine life.
Phi Phi, The name is derived from Malay and the original was Pulao Pi ah Pi, where in pulao is the Malay word for island, and pi, pronounced with only a half p sound, was very close in pronunciation to the English word be; the ah was eventually dropped, so the name was said something like Bi Bi. Later the P was pronounced with a stronger aspiration and the name became the Pi Pi we know today (the h with which it is usually spelled is confusing and superfluous). The name refers to the mangrove wood found there. Six islands are in the group; Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley, Biddah Nok, Biddah Nai, Yung, and Pai (Bamboo Island) ; total area is about 35 square kilometers. They were incorporated into the national park in 1983. Some of the interesting places to visit include.
Phi Phi islands consists of 2 islands, Phi Phi Don, the larger one of the two with an abundance of fine beaches and accommodation to suit all needs. The more geographically dramatic, Phi Phi Ley, with its cliffs, natural caves and water-filled canyon offers the tourists exciting and outdoor pursuits. Both islands are in Krabi province and are part of Nopparat Thara Beach/Phi Phi National Marine Park, Just a short 42 kilometers from from Phuket, will transport you to the tropical paradise and famous islands of Phi Phi Island.
Fine, white sandy beaches and breathtaking rock formations rising from the vivid turquoise waters that surround the islands will instantly confirm you've arrived in paradise. Exploring Phi Phi Island couldn't be more fun, with Scuba Diving , Snorkelling , Kayaking or Climbing being the most popular methods, when taking a break from the silky soft sands.

Koh Jum Island, Krabi, Thailand
Koh Jum Island or Koh Pu Island is situated in between Krabi town and
Koh Lanta Island not far from the famous island of Koh Phi Phi Island
in the Andaman Sea of Thailand. The northern part of the Koh Jum Island
is mountaineous and called Ban Koh Pu Island with its highest elevation
reaching 395 m. The southern part of Koh Jum Island is flat and covered
by the natural vegetation of the Andaman Sea Coast, that consists of
towering casuarina trees and screw palms. This part is called Ban Koh
Jum and is around 30 square kilometers in size.
Koh Jum is inhabited by just over 3000 people, who earn a living from fishing, cloth weaving and rubber plantations. Koh Jum has three primary schools providing education for about 600 children. Naturally the Koh Jum Thailand is blessed with a number of clean sandy beaches with the crystal clear water of the Andaman Sea and areas of coral reefs to explore. With little impact from tourism Koh Pu Island can justify the phrase 'unspoilt and undiscovered' with fresh water from its highest jungle peak serving the local villages of Koh Jum and its rain forest containing an abundance of wildlife and rare plants.
Koh Jum is easiest reached by one of the daily boats from Krabi pier to Koh Lanta , that pass Koh Jum and regularly stop in front of the resorts. The way overland by bus to Laem Kruat Village and by boat from there to Koh Pu Village is not really convenient, but the only way to reach Koh Jum during the monsoon season.

kilometers from Krabi town, this long sandy beach overlooks the stunning
Koh Hong Islands. The beach merges into the Kao Hang Nak Natural
Forest in the interior and is one of the most tranquil places in Krabi.

The islands that make up the Koh Hong archipelago can bee seen from the beach. You can get a closer look on a daytrip around the islands.
Nightlife options are severely limited - Tubkaak isn't somewhere to go for nightlife however Ao Nang is around a 20 minute drive.

The coast in the south of Thailand is a luxurious tropical paradise.
Towering limestone cliffs shelter incredible beaches, the most beautiful
is Railay.
Isolated from the mainland, the peninsula of Railay is surrounded by the warm Andaman Sea, lush jungle, and twisted rock. It contains enough activities for the most adventurous while allowing those who just want to chill out in paradise the opportunity to do just that.
You can be sure that it will never get uncomfortably crowded in Railay as there are a limited amount of hotel rooms available.
Many people chose to stay in Ao Nang, a short boat ride away. Ao Nang offers all levels of accommodation, restaurants, bars, cafes and local market.
Your suggestion of adding a pickup at the airport was very helpful, he brought us right to the beach where the long-neck boat was waiting.

Klong Muang Beach, Krabi, Thailand
Krabi's latest beach destination, Muang Klong is aiming upmarket with
5 star and boutique hotels like the Sheraton Krabi Resort, the
Nakamanda and the Tubkaak Resort located here.
Unlike Ao Nang it doesn't have the impressive cliffs immediately towering over the beach, but it does have powder white sand that stretches into the distance around 3 kilometres.
Klong Muang is undisturbed - almost available solely for its exclusive guests and a few fishermen. The beach seems to go on forever along the coast, with a small island at one end - home to local seabirds and rockpools full of life. It's the kind of beach, to just sit and contemplate, especially at sunset. Dozens of tiny islands lie dotted on the horizon and to the south, at Laem Ham Nak, is a Royal residence of the Princess.
The local village at the back of the beach is still in its infancy with a few shops, including the obligatory tailor's shop and a handful of restaurants. Nightlife is minimal, if you want loud music, head into Ao Nang.
In Klong Muang, it's excellent food, good company, and a moonlight stroll along the beach, rather than a vibrant nightlife that's on the menu, but then Klong Muang is maintaining a low profile, which is why the five star hotels are located there.

Had Yao Beach, Krabi, Thailand
Had Yao is the last untouched beach in Krabi Provience, and perhaps
the most spectacular with it's views of Jum Mountain and Ao Nang's Cliff
walls.
Located in the rural backwaters of Krabi province in the south of Thailand you find the longest untouched beach of mainland Krabi. In convenient distance from the hordes of tourists poring into nearby Phuket and Ao Nang, but only 25 kilometer from the new international airport of Krabi. This provides an excellent getaway break for those who seek ultimate relaxation in tranquility. From Had Yao to Ao Nang, it is approximately 40-minute drive.
Commercialization of Had Yao has yet to come ashore. The locals makes a living from the rice paddies and prawn farms found in the nearby area. The local roads takes you pass their homes which are beautiful old wooden houses on stilts, where goats and chickens scratch around for food. On Tuesday and Friday afternoons, there is a local marked down the road by the beach where you can stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables at barging prices. Maybe a perfect activity before taking a stroll on the beach while watching a breathtaking sunset crawling behind the island and into the horizon of the Andaman Sea.
This is a large peninsula with a several kilometer long beach. It is not a great swimming beach - the sand is brown-grey and the water is very shallow for a long way out - but is great for walking. The views are good, facing Phi Phi Island to the west and the mountains around Rai Ley to the north.

Ao Nang Beach, Krabi, Thailand
Krabi is hardly 18 km away from the bay and the bay has some 83
islands scattered around. Each one of these islands are a short distance
away from one another. And during low tides, you can even wade your way
to the neighboring island. In this sort of a natural set up, there is
little shortage for sandy beaches and crystal clear water. But among
them all, Ao Nang beach is supposed to be the best.
Ao Nang has the cleanest of environments in the area. This is the most developed beach in the area. The beach is accessible by road from Krabi. Less crowded and more quiet, it gives a more peaceful atmosphere to the tourist than the Krabi.
The majestic looking limestone cliffs rising straight from calm, clear waters of the sea and the long beach line that runs the whole length of the resort are great attractions claimed exclusively by Ao Nang. The shallow coast line is very safe for children to play with the waves.
The deserted beach of Pai Plong is easily accessible on foot when the tide is low. There are 83 islands of various sizes in the bay off this beach and the facilities for boat trips are well organized in the beach. Tourism sector takes care of the food requirements at the sea front itself.
With widest range of accommodation facilities , transports either by boat or road, excellent facilities for tasty foods, tourists often make this area a base camp to make their foray further deep to discover the caves or for trekking and rock climbing.

Krabi, Thailand
Krabi is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, at the shore of the
Andaman Sea. Neighbouring provinces are Phang Nga, Surat Thani, Nakhon
Si Thammarat and Trang.
Krabi, a province on southern Thailand’s Andaman coast, is an almost otherworldly region of labyrinthine archipelagos, where islands seem to erupt vertically out of the sea and secluded beaches are only accessible by colorfully adorned long tail boats. Krabi’s myriad of bays and coves have sheltered pirates, merchants, and sea gypsies for thousands of years and archaeological evidence indicates that Krabi was originally inhabited as early as 25,000 - 35,000 years ago! With attractions including hot springs, a wildlife sanctuary, sea caves, flourishing coral reefs and exotic marine life, limestone cliffs that draw rock climbing enthusiasts from around the world, and national parks that include the island paradises of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta, one could easily spend weeks in Krabi and leave yearning for more.If that wasn’t enough, Krabi features some of the most photogenic sunsets in Thailand, often accompanied by spectacular displays of cloud to cloud lightning, that are best enjoyed from a beachside bar or restaurant. Meanwhile, with all the tourists spread out among various beaches and islands, life goes on in Krabi Town, the somewhat sleepy provincial capital. Surprisingly few tourists spend time in the charming riverside town, whose hilly streets feature a number of cozy cafes and inexpensive and authentic Thai cuisine is served at an outdoor, riverside evening market. “Town” to most visitors is Ao Nang, a seaside strip of guesthouses, hotels, bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops that continues to grow as tourist arrivals increase, now spreading north into Noppharat Thara, whose quiet, shady beach is part of the national park that includes the Phi Phi Islands. Ao Nang is the major launching point for boat trips to nearby islands and the isolated beaches of Phra Nang Cape, where the famous former hippie enclave of Railey Beach is located.
Krabi Province, which lies along the coast of the Andaman sea in Southern Thailand, is a top tourist destination as a result of its plentiful natural attractions including, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, extensive coral reefs, numerous caves and waterfalls, and over 130 islands, including Koh Lanta and the jewels of the Andaman coast, the six islands of Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park. While not the top destination in and of itself, Krabi Town is a charming provincial capital located along the banks of a river that leads to the nearby Andaman Sea. Consequently, Krabi is an important port city for both local fisherman as well as boats ferrying visitors to the nearby attractions, including Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, and Railey Beach, one of the premier rock climbing destinations in the world.

Two Heroines Monument, Phuket, Thailand
Phuket has a rich cultural heritage, although it's not so apparent if
you're staying in a hotel by the sea. Until tourism arrived on the scene
around 30 years ago, hardly anyone lived at the beaches except some
fishermen and farmers. The main towns of Phuket were at Phuket Town and
Thalang. Phuket Town only became the main town in Phuket in the late
19th century. Before that Thalang had been the biggest population
center. Almost every visitor to Phuket will pass through Thalang on the
way South from the airport, and about 6km south of Thalang you can see
the Phuket Heroines Monument - in the middle of the main road on a
traffic circle - you know, it's that statue of 2 ladies holding
swords.
This monument was established by local residents in 1966 to honor the heroic deeds of Thao Thepkasattri and Thao Srisunthorn. It is located at the Tha Ruea intersection, Amphoe Thalang.

Koh Racha, Phuket, Thailand
The island consists of Racha Yai and Racha Noi islands located south of
Phuket. Koh Racha Yai (Big Racha) has an enchanting beach located on the
west between the valleys that resembles horseshoes. The area is known
as Ao Bungalow which is famous for its white powdery beach and crystal
clear water. Visitors can marvel at the delightful panoramic view of the
whole island from the vantage point at the peak of the mountain located
south of the bay. Koh Racha Yai is the ultimate place to explore the
wonders of the underwater world, especially at Ao Siam, Ao Tue and Khon
Kae.
Accommodations are available. Koh Racha Noi (Small Racha) is located just 10 kilometers from Big Racha Island. Originating from the accumulation of coral stones, the island has more rocky hills than beaches, thus the island is more suitable for fishing. To get there, visitors can charter long-tailed or speed boats from Chalong Pier. Alternatively, they can buy a package tour from reliable travel agencies.
