Litchfield Beach is about a half-hour drive from Myrtle Beach and is most frequented by an upscale crowd attracted by the quiet, natural landscape. The immediate beach is mostly home to vacation condos and houses available for rent but also has one hotel: Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort. An overview reveals a large, mid-rise resort with a sweeping pool and dual boardwalks gracing over the dunes leading way to the wide beach.
Closest to Pawleys Island, and on the south end of the beach, is South Litchfield Beach. It is most renowned for the beachfront community of Inlet Point, a private residential area edging on the coast with both residential and rental properties available. Most properties range from half-a-million to more than a million dollar estates fitted with luxury amenities including private boat docks, swimming pools, and direct beach access.
Litchfield by the Sea is set along the long, meandering stretch of ocean designated as Pawleys Island which is considered part of Litchfield Beach because of the close geographical nature of the area: officially Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach are separate communities distinguished by a short three-plus miles. It is also a private community with vacation rentals available. The beach is very wide and provides access to both Pawleys Island Beach and North and South Litchfield Beach. Litchfield by the Sea offers vacationers scores of activities and attractions including championship golf, tennis, and close proximity to the biggest outside sculpture garden known. The nearby southern marshlands are home to a network of trails ideal for cycling, hiking, and walking.
