Pulau Duyung, Terengganu

Pulau Duyung or Mermaid Island is situated in the estuary of Sungai Terengganu. Pulau Duyung Besar is home to some of the master boat makers and one of the oldest traditional boat making in Malaysia. Branding its name as an international tourist destination with marina facilities capable of handling international water sports events such as yacht racing, jetski racing, boat racing as well as the venue for luxury yachts stopovers. Pulau Duyung is accessible by road via the Sultan Mahmud Bridge or by the water boats that ply regular trips from Shahbandar Jetty. Terengganu's world-famous traditional boat makers in Duyung Island are known to build row boats, deep-sea fishing boats and luxury yachts from memory and experience, taught to them by master craftmen of the previous generation and without blueprints and nails! Visitors can stroll from one workshop to another to see the craftsmen at work.
